Players list announced for the Mifel Tennis Open 2022
- Outstanding Top 20 players such as Daniil Medvedev (No. 1), Félix Auger-Aliasime (No. 9), Cameron Norrie (No. 12) and Diego Schwartzman (No. 15) have confirmed their participation at Los Cabo Open.
- The Cabo Sports Complex (CSC) will open its doors for the first time to the public for it´s 6th edition, the Mifel Tennis Open.
- The ATP 250 will take place from August 1st thru the 6th, tickets already on sale.
Mexico City, July 5th, 2022.-The Mifel Tennis Open 2022 announces the official list of players for its 6th edition (ATP 250), taking place for the second time at the Cabo Sports Complex (CSC) from August 1st thru the 6th.
Current No.1 Daniil Medvedev and No. 9 Félix Auger-Aliasime will do the honors in a historic edition celebrating the return of a live audience. Also highlighting the visit of the past three champions. Britain’s Cameron Norrie (No.12) who´ll be looking to defend his title after showing of his best Grand Slam performance so far on this years Wimbledon edition.
In addition to the three previously announced players, the open will be delighted to recieve the 29 year old Argentine; Diego Schwartzman (No.15), whom after winning in the 2019 edition of the Mifel Tennis Open, added a fourth title to his fifth collection of ATP titles.
On the other hand, veteran John Isner (No. 24), men’s doubles champion along with the Mexican Hans Hach in last years edition, returns for a second time in a row to Los Cabos, while the Italian Fabio Fognini (No. 63), champion in 2018, will also be back with 35 years of age, looking to surprise the Mexican fans once again.
With 22 years of age, Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic (No. 30), who is coached by former Argentine player, David Nalbandian, arrives at the Mifel Tennis Open while enjoying the best ranking of his career. He`s also joined by the American (US) Brandon Nakashima (No. 56), who`s received praises for reaching the 16th round at Wimbledon and was a finalist at Los Cabos last year. Both represent the young talents to be highlighted.
Another of the US players that also will be present is Steve Johnson current (No. 93), although the Australian nation will be the one to shine with four players in the Open; Thanasi Kokkinakis (No. 79) finalist in 2017 and also won the Australian Open in men’s doubles. The other 3 Aussies are, Jordan Thompson (No. 76), John Millman (No. 85) and Jason Kubler (No. 99).
To complete the list of high level performance players to the tournament, are the Argentineans Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Facundo Bagnis, Portuguese Joao Sousa, Frenchman Quentin Halys and 20-year-old Chun-hsin Tseng from Chinese Taipei.
It is also worth mentioning that the 17-year old Mexican, Rodrigo Pacheco, received an invitation to participate in the qualifying round and be able to win a ticket to the main draw of the Mifel Tennis Open.
The young national sensation, who`s in full development stage, already can presume having reached the quarterfinals in the junior category of the Australian Open and Roland Garros.
The Mexican Alejandro Hernández also received a wild card to participate in the qualifiers.
