Karen Khachanov and his first doubles title
Mexico City, May 8.- For Karen Khachanov winning titles on the ATP Tour has not been easy.
His road to the top has had many hard days, but also happy days and last Saturday was one of them. Kachanov, one of the five Top 20 players confirmed for the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo to be played in Los Cabos from July 31 to August 5, won his first doubles title.
At 26, the 26-year-old, born in Moscow on May 21, 1996 and a professional since 2013, now accumulates five titles, four in singles and one in doubles, the latter won alongside compatriot Andrey Rublev last Saturday at the ATP Masters 1000 Mutua Madrid Open.
For Khachanov and Rublev it was third time lucky in the final of an ATP Masters 1000. The pair had already reached the final in Miami 2018 and Paris 2019 and so far conquered their first title together.
Khachanov and Rublev beat India’s Rohan Bopanna and Australia’s Matthew Ebden 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 in the final on Saturday, May 6. Bopanna and Ebden were tough opponents as they currently occupy the top position in the Pepperstone ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings.
With the win at the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid, Rublev reached his fourth doubles title and Khachanov his first.
In singles, Kachanov so far accumulates 4, one in 2016 in.
Chengdu and three in 2018, in Marseille, Moscow and Paris Masters 1000, his most important title in his career. He is currently ranked 11th in the ATP rankings.
