Mexico City, September 26, 2023 – Five months before the Mexican Back to Back’s debut, starting with the eighth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, to be held between February 19 and 24, 2024, Mextenis has confirmed the participation of four players currently ranked in the ATP Top 10. Holger Rune (No.4), Stefanos Tsitsipas (No.5), Casper Ruud (No.9), and Alexander Zverev (No.10) are the stars of a lineup that promises to be legendary for an ATP 250 event.
The Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas will return to the Cabo Sports Complex (CSC) to defend his 2023 title, one of the ten titles he boasts at just 25 years old. On the other hand, Los Cabos will host three debutants. Danish player Holger Rune, who achieved his highest ranking in August of this year and currently holds the No. 4 spot in the world, is one of the young promises to watch on the circuit, even mentioned by the legend Roger Federer. At 20 years old, Rune, who made his professional debut in 2020, already has four titles, including a Masters 1000 in Paris.
Also, Norwegian player Casper Ruud, currently No. 9 but who reached No. 2 a year ago, will debut at the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo. At 24 years old, he has 10 ATP titles and has competed in three Grand Slam finals, two of them at Roland Garros, his favorite surface. Lastly, there is the German Alexander Zverev, who has returned to the Top 10 after a long injury recovery and will finally make his debut in a tournament in a destination he is already familiar with. Sascha also reached the second spot in the rankings in 2022. He has accumulated 20 titles at 26 years old and also won Olympic gold in Tokyo.
“Undoubtedly, we will have one of the best lineups in the tournament’s history. This event has been consolidating over the years, and more and more players want to come and experience it and compete in Los Cabos. We are very excited about our new date; it marks a new era for the organization for Mextenis, and we hope it will be excellent for the fans. We are confident that it will benefit everyone,” commented the tournament director, José Antonio Fernández.
The eighth edition will be memorable for fans as, for the first time, the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo is being held in February, leaving the summer behind. This adjustment in the calendar benefits both the fans and the tournament’s organization, and, of course, the players who will have more comfortable logistics for the two major ATP tennis events in Mexico.
The Cabo Sports Complex (CSC) is a multifunctional sports complex with magnificent facilities and exquisite architectural design, built in collaboration between Mextenis and Olarena. Constructed on an area of more than 4 hectares, it features a stadium with a capacity for 3,500 fans, a Grandstand for 1,500 people, and three courts that can be adapted to accommodate up to 800 spectators, in addition to a special area for the players. Tickets for the eighth edition are already on sale.
The Los Cabos ATP 250 will have a main singles draw of 28 players and 16 doubles pairs.
