Mexico City, April 22, 2026.—Czech player Jiri Lehecka, No. 14 in the PIF ATP Rankings, along with Karen Khachanov (No. 16), Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo (No. 20), British player Cameron Norrie (No. 23), Canadian Denis Shapovalov (No. 35), the defending champion, and young Spaniard Rafael Jódar (No. 42), have been announced as the first confirmed players for the tenth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, which will take place from July 27 to August 1, 2026, at the Cabo Sport Complex (CSC) in Los Cabos.
The Los Cabos ATP 250, the most important tournament in Latin America, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and Mextenis wanted to mark this milestone in a big way—an occasion on which current champion Denis Shapovalov could not miss out on the celebration of such a special edition. Following his debut in 2025, the Canadian returns as one of the star players.
Joining Shapo will be 24-year-old Czech player Lehecka, who has two ATP titles (Adelaide 2024 and Brisbane 2025), but this season he made a significant jump in the rankings after reaching the final of the recent Miami Open, where he lost to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
Also confirmed to attend is 29-year-old Khachanov, who missed the 2023 Mexican tournament due to injury and is looking to break back into the Top 10. He has seven career titles, the most recent coming in 2024 in Doha and Almaty.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Argentine Fran Cerúndolo enjoyed the highlight of his career in February after winning the title on home soil at the Buenos Aires Open, his fourth trophy on the tour following Bastad (2022), Eastbourne (2023), and Umag (2024).
Britain’s Norrie, 30, a regular participant in the two tournaments held in Mexico—Los Cabos and Acapulco—notes that among his five titles, he won the first of his career during a historic week in Baja California in late July 2021.
Meanwhile, in 2026, one of the young talents who has garnered the most attention as a rising star of Spanish tennis is 19-year-old Rafa Jódar, who claimed his first ATP title a few days ago on the clay courts of Morocco and competed in this year’s tournament in Acapulco.
“For Mextenis, 2026 is a very special year as we celebrate a decade of hard work and great tennis stories and achievements in Los Cabos. We are proud to see the evolution of this ATP 250, and for that reason, our focus remains firmly on the quality of the competition,” said tournament director José Antonio Fernández at a press conference.
“With this year’s draw, we aim to bring talented players to Mexico who have stood out with exceptional performances in the first quarter of the season, and we couldn’t be happier with these first announced players,” he added.
This year, the CSC is expanding from five to six courts with the debut of a new court that will become Court 1, featuring stands for 200 fans—a facility requested by the ATP and the players.
The tournament offers something for everyone in attendance; in recent years, it has stood out for providing an experience that goes beyond the sport, and throughout the week-long celebration there will be music, entertainment, and surprises from sponsors, including a closing show.
Para la qualy habrá entrada gratis para todas las familias el sábado 25 y domingo 26 de julio, días en los que celebrarán el Kids Nite y Family Day.
In addition, the Cantera Conade program returns to the tournament, giving young male and female tennis players the opportunity to compete in the final of the Tennis Cabo Cup Conade-FMT-Mextenis in Los Cabos, following six tournaments in four different cities.
For this edition, Mextenis welcomes two new sponsors. Disney Cruise Line, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, offers family-friendly cruises featuring Disney themes, themed dining, Broadway-style shows, and outstanding service, sailing through the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Europe, and Alaska. Also joining as a sponsor is Microbiot Fit, a leading line of probiotics in Mexico manufactured by Laboratorios Columbia, recognized for its focus on digestive health and weight management.
