3 TOP 10 ANNOUNCED FOR LOS CABOS TENNIS OPEN
• Daniil Medvedev (No. 2), Félix Auger-Aliassime (No. 9) and Cameron Norrie (No. 10) confirmed for the Mifel Tennis Open 2022.
• The tournament will be played at its newest venue, Cabo Sports Complex (CSC), inaugurated in 2021 (crowdless due to Covid restrictions).
The Mifel Tennis Open will host three elite tennis players who are part of the Top-10 (ATP Ranking); the Russian Daniil Medvedev (No.2), the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (No.9) and the British Cameron Norrie (No. 10), current defending champion.
The tournament, belongs in the ATP 250 category, and will take place from August 1st thru 6th at Los Cabos, BCS.
To complete what will be the best draw in the history of the Mifel Tennis Open, the American John Isner (No. 27) will also be joining, surprising many with his magnificent season playing doubles.
“We are very excited to have these great players; it is very rare, perhaps even historic, to have 3 top 10`s in a 250 tournament. It will be a grand spectacle for the audience to see someone of Daniil Medvedev’s playing caliber inside the court” added, José Antonio Fernández (tournament director).
Medvedev, last years US Open champion, has under his resume, 13 ATP titles and finalist of this yeras Australian Open, also attended the Mexican Tennis Open in Acapulco this past February, was captivated by the warm reception of the Mexican crowd. The Russian, is only 10 points away from regaining the top spot in the rankings, he is definitvely one of the best candidates to take the crown, and must see at this years Los Cabos Open.
Another contender for the title is Auger-Aliassime, this year the Canadian won his first title; the ATP 500 in Rotterdam. Auger is one of the players under 22 looking to stay at the Top-10 seed for a long time, currently backed up by renowned Spanish coach Toni Nadal.
After gaining his first title at the Mifel Tennis Open 2021, the English Cameron Norrie had a turning point in his career, after a long time, achieving his greatest victory yet, crowning himself at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 and recently at the Delray Beach; resulting in his Top Ten debut.
This year, the Mifel Tennis Open will celebrate its second edition at the most recent venue called Cabo Sports Complex, a multifunctional venue able to host sporting and entertainment events. This magnificent venue, through it`s open spaces, communes with the natural elements of this prestigious tourist destination.
“We came back stronger than ever. After two years of absence, we formally inaugurate our newest venue, Cabo Sports Complex, with 3 of the 10 best players in the world. I am convinced that the audience will enjoy this historic edition very much”, added Fernández.
The site has approximately an area of about 10,000 m2 where attendees will be able to enjoy entertainment, cultural events, and concerts.
The CSC has a full-size stadium with a capacity for 3,500 seating, a grandstand for more than 1,500 spectators and 3 courts that can be adapted to receive up to 400 atendees, in addition, there’s also an exclusive area for players.
For this year’s edition, and due to the remaining health contingency, the Open will be held under the ATP Safety Program protocols (a plan developed by the tournament organizers in alliance with the ATP, and local authorities). The Open will be held with a complete crowd (open seated).
