Mexico City, April 24, 2023 – The Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo 2023 has confirmed Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 5) and four other Top 20 players for the seventh edition of the ATP 250, which will be played from July 31 to August 5 at the Cabo Sports Complex (CSC).
Star players such as Cameron Norrie (No. 14), 2021 champion and 2022 finalist, Russian Karen Khachanov (No. 12), American Tommy Paul (No. 17), as well as Acapulco 2023 champion, Australian Alex de Miñaur (No.19), will be part of the talent roster of the tournament that will also celebrate the return of the Solaz Resort Los Cabos as its official host hotel.
Greek Tsitsipas (No. 5), who played in the final of the Barcelona Open, will make his debut on the courts of Baja California Sur where he hopes to achieve the same connection with the public that he achieved in his visits to Acapulco. The Greek has nine ATP tour titles at the age of 24.
On the other hand, British Cameron Norrie (No. 13) already boasts a trophy this 2023, which he won against Carlos Alcaraz in Rio de Janeiro in February. Norrie has said that the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo is one of his favorite tournaments, since in Los Cabos he won the first title of his career in July 2021. Acapulco finalist Tommy Paul also confirmed his attendance. The American is living his best year as a professional.
“We are very proud to confirm these players who have shown great level at the beginning of the year. The facilities are improving every year and the venue is ready to receive more than 30,000 people during the week of the tournament and we will also have the host hotel up and running for the tournament, which is great news,” commented tournament director Jose Antonio Fernandez.
The Cabo Sports Complex (CSC) welcomed the public for the first time in 2022. The multifunctional sports complex boasts magnificent facilities and an exquisite architectural design, built jointly by Mextenis and Olarena. It is strategically located behind Solaz Resort Los Cabos, just 250 meters away, which saves players’ travel time during the tournament. Built on more than 4 hectares of land, it has a stadium with a capacity for 3,500 fans, a Grandstand for 1,500 people and three courts that can be adapted to receive up to 800 spectators. There is also a special area for players.
The Los Cabos ATP 250 will have a main singles draw of 28 players and 16 players in doubles.
The seventh edition will be the last one in which the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo will be held in the summer, since, as announced by the ATP, by 2024 it will be held in the eighth week of the calendar, that is, in the week prior to the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presented by HSBC in Acapulco.
