Los Cabos, August 3, 2023.- Year after year the objective is not lost. Contributing to the local community of Los Cabos is a priority for the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo and Mextenis. During the seventh edition of the ATP 250 tournament, director Geoffrey Fernandez, explained the different projects encompassed by the social responsibility area known as Play For All! and revealed details about the new program focused on children from a DIF children’s home.
“We reached a unanimous agreement with the Mayor’s Office and its agencies and considered that it was more relevant to support a home that is just starting and has many requirements. The home cares for newborn children and up to 17 year old adolescents who have many needs. Initially the project, in 2022, was to build a tennis court, but we agreed to change to this incredible new project, we are going to join the task from now on, to improve the structure and equipment of their school. Our architects have already come and made a survey with the construction,” shared Fernández excitedly.
“What was going to be invested for the field in 2022, will be added together with that of 2023. It is a long-term commitment, we consider that it is more important and leaves more of an impact on so many children. This is the best way to continue contributing to the community, what Mextenis has done since it arrived in Los Cabos,” he added.
Geoffrey Fernandez explained that no ideal land was found to install the court and after a consensus in which different authorities were also involved, it was decided that it was of greater relevance to support children and families.
In this sense, the second edition of Family Day was also held this Wednesday at the Cabo Sports Complex (CSC), where 70 local families and the children of the DIF children’s home were invited to experience a day of many emotions through the connection with sports.
“If the children today want to do outdoor activities it is impossible because of the weather, we are going to create a roof in the courtyard of their school so that they have a more adapted space. We are going to remodel all the dormitories, improve the furniture, bunk beds, closets, kitchen equipment, expansion in areas, it is an ambitious and very exciting project,” said the tournament director.
He also said that the court that was painted in a public school in the municipality was done in conjunction with the company Comex and that Mextenis will be doing the same in public areas of Acapulco in the coming years.
“At the end of each tournament we also donate sports material to schools, balls and implements, this so that the children have material for sports activities. In addition to hydration. Finally we have the work of Becar, a program in which this year we are going to give up to 65 scholarships for schools that do not have the system or software for children to receive English classes, a very important learning tool in Los Cabos,” concluded the director about the Play For All! program.
