Los Cabos, July 30, 2026.—Canadian Denis Shapovalov and Briton Cameron Norrie will face off in one of the semifinals of the 10th edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel OPPO, taking place at the Cabo Sports Complex in Los Cabos.
Shapovalov defeated Czech player Dalibor Svrcina 6-4, 6-2 in a match that lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
“I’m really happy to have won today. I need to play even better in the semifinals; I need to improve my serve, which wasn’t great today and will be very important for the next match. So I’ll try to make whatever adjustments I can and get ready. (Against Norrie) it’s going to be a very tough match—he’s a tough opponent and he’s playing good tennis. It’ll be another tough battle, but I have to take it one match at a time,” Shapovalov said at the post-match press conference.
For his part, Norrie easily defeated Australian veteran Bernard Tomic 6-1, 6-0 in a match that lasted 50 minutes.
“He was one of my favorite players to watch when I was young; he’s very talented. I wasn’t really thinking about the semifinals, just about winning this match. Shapovalov, when he’s confident, is one of the best on the tour; he’s had a great week, and these conditions suit him well,” Norrie told the media.
In the other semifinal, France’s Arthur Gea will face Coleman Wong of Hong Kong.
Gea pulled off the upset of the day by defeating Argentina’s Francisco Cerúndolo 6-7, 6-4, 6-0 in a grueling match that lasted two hours and 40 minutes.
The Frenchman, ranked No. 127, came back from a set down and fought hard to secure the victory over Cerúndolo, who is in the Top 20 of the PIF ATP Rankings.
In the first set, both players held their serves without showing any weaknesses in their game, and the tiebreak went as high as 13-11 in favor of the Argentine. In the second set, the match followed a similar pattern until 4-4, and in the ninth game, Gea broke Fran’s serve and served out the set 6-4.
It looked as though the third set would be just as evenly matched, but the Frenchman proved stronger, while Cerúndolo’s play faltered. As a result, Gea broke him three times and held his serve on three occasions to seal a 6-0 victory.
For his part, Wong, No. 108, advanced to the semifinals by defeating American Jenson Brooksby (No. 77) 6-1, 7-5 in a match that lasted 90 minutes. Wong had already become the sensation of the tournament after eliminating top-seeded Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Americans Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac defeated their compatriot Benjamin Kittay and Ray Ho of Chinese Taipei 7-6(5), 6-3 and will now face the second seeds, Brazilians Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos, in the semifinals. Matos and Luz defeated Britain’s Joshua Paris and Thailand’s Pruchya Isarow 6-1, 7-5.
