MIFEL Tennis Open by TELCEL OPPO 2024 opens with qualifiers
- Eight matches will be played this Saturday with Mexican Alan Rubio Fierros among the 16 contenders.
Los Cabos, February 17, 2024.- The eighth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, which is being played this week in Los Cabos, opens its activity this Saturday with the start of the qualifying tournament, which will award four tickets to the main draw.
Among the players who will be looking for one of the tickets to the main draw will be Italian Flavio Cobolli (1), American Alekasandar Kovacevic (2) and Japanese Yosuke Watanuki (3) and Shintaro Mochizuki (4), the four top seeds for the qualy.
In his first match, Cobolli will face Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro; Kovacevic will face Steve Johnson, both from the United States; Watanuki will face the only Mexican in the qualy, Alan Rubio Fierros and Mochizuki will face American Aidan Mayo.
The four remaining matches are Frenchman Terence Atmane against American Brandon Holt; another American Emilio Nava against Colombian Nicolas Mejia, Argentine Guido Andreozzi against American Zachary Svajda and Australian Marc Polmans will face American Nicolas Moreno de Alboran.
The Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo 2024 boasts in its eighth edition a main draw with stellar players such as German Alexander Zverev (No.6), Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (No.10), 2023 finalist, Australian Alex de Miñaur (No.11) and Norwegian Casper Ruud (No.12).
The best ATP 250 tournament in Latin America will have a main singles draw of 28 players and 16 doubles pairs. The eighth edition is played a week before the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presented by HSBC in Acapulco.
Since its first edition in 2016, the tournament’s champions include Ivo Karlovic, Sam Querrey, Fabio Fognini, Diego Schwartzman, Cameron Norrie, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
