Mexico’s Gonzalez and Sanchez advance in doubles
- Frenchmen Doumbia and Reboul, top seeds, were eliminated
Los Cabos, July 16, 2025.- Mexicans Santiago Gonzalez and Manuel Sanchez, with different partners, scored wins respectively and advanced to the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament at the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo.
Gonzalez and American Austin Krajicek won 6-2, 6-2 against Americans James Cerretani and Theodore Winegar in a match at the Mextenis stadium.
“It’s always good to win with a good score, I’m very happy especially for playing at home, we are still adapting to the change of grass to the first tournament on hard court which is very different, we have a difficult next round against Olympic champions John Peers and Mathew Ebden and hopefully tomorrow with the support of the public and playing good tennis we can win tomorrow”, said Gonzalez after the match.
Meanwhile, Manuel Sanchez along with Australian Bernard Tomic beat Mexican Hans Hach Verdugo and Colombian Cristian Rodriguez by 7-6(3) and 4-1 and retired.
Meanwhile, Robert Cash and J.J. Tracy, from the United States, won 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 against Brazilian Fernando Romboli and Australian John Patrick Smith.
