Los Cabos, July 25, 2025.—Mexicans Luis Carlos Alvarez, Alex Hernández, Alan Magadán, and Alan Rubios-Fierros will seek to advance this Saturday in the qualifying tournament for the tenth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, whose main draw will be played from July 27 to August 1 at the Cabo Sports Complex.
In addition to the local players, Colombians Nicolás Mejía and Miguel Tobón, along with Spaniard Roger Pascual Ferra, will also compete in the qualifiers. Australian veteran Bernard Tomic is a notable presence in the qualifying tournament.
This Saturday, on the first of two qualifying days—featuring eight matches—Alex Hernández (No. 499) will face Colombia’s Mejía (No. 136), the champion of the San Luis Potosí Challenger in early April.
Meanwhile, Alvarez (No. 809) will face Australian Edward Winter (No. 400); Magadán (No. 650) will take on American Garret Johns (No. 273); and Rubio-Fierros (No. 573) will face South Korean Soon Woo Kwon (No. 157).
Australian Tomic (No. 170), who will play against fellow Colombian Tobón (No. 442), and Spaniard Pascual Ferra (No. 808) will face American Colton Smith (No. 174).
Saturday’s action in Los Cabos rounds out with matches between Croatian Borna Gojo (No. 169) and American Aidan Mayo (No. 634), and American Tristan Boyer (No. 106) against Italian Lorenzo Claverie (No. 869).
The qualifying tournament for the ATP 250 in Los Cabos takes place on Saturday and Sunday and awards four spots in the main draw, in addition to two special exemptions and three wild cards that have already been secured by veteran Grigor Dimitrov (No. 142), Mexican Rodrigo Pacheco (No. 323), and 17-year-old Frenchman Moïse Kouamé (No. 212).
