Mexico City, July 26, 2026.—The sea, tennis, and an iconic landscape. These are the only three ingredients needed to kick off the 10th anniversary of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel OPPO—which runs from July 27 to August 1, 2026—in legendary fashion.
Defending champion Denis Shapovalov of Canada and world No. 26 Karen Khachanov enjoyed a practice session on the most picturesque court they’ve ever played on—and they’ve certainly traveled the world as professional tennis players!
The Best Way to Celebrate
Mextenis knew it would be difficult to top a setting like the arch—an iconic landmark in Baja California Sur—and for that very reason, it was the ideal backdrop to kick off a legendary week in the tournament’s history. The event marks the 10th anniversary of tennis’s arrival in Los Cabos, which helped boost the sport and the country’s sports entertainment offerings.
Geoffrey Fernández, the tournament director, also played a mini-match against the pros and, laughing as it ended, declared, “I beat both of them—they gave me a run for my money.” Next up was actor Juan Pablo Medina, who also held his own against the world’s best.
